Right before the end of his lively chat with the actress, David spilled the beans that Batman will die at the end of the film. "Of course, Batman is dead in the end," the host said that shocked Anne Hathaway. Anne, on the other hand, seemed to confirm what David said when she gave him a sharp look and bellowed "Daaaaaavvvveeee." The Oscar-nominated actress played the situation quite well telling Letterman that he had no idea the wrath he had just incurred, and issuing an apology to director Christopher Nolan. "You know that's a whole thing, right?" the actress said to the host while nodding to the speculation that the apocalyptically-marketed film, which does feature an older and once-retired Bruce Wayne and the villain that famously breaks his back, does indeed end with Batman's death
