On June 10, 1963, President John F. Kennedy signed the Equal Pay Act into law, attempting to abolish wage inequality based on gender. The Department of Labor ran public service announcements at the time to remind citizens and employers of the new law. To deliver that message, the government chose one of the most high profile bad-ass women of the day: Batgirl.
It’s sad to think that all these years later, we’re still fighting conservative attempts to restrict and reduce women’s rights, along with their obstruction of anything that resembles equality for women in the workplace.
